Cherokee OKs $800K in vehicle purchases

From new police cars to a truck to haul the county’s animal rescue trailer, vehicle purchases totaling more than $800,000 have been approved by the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners.

Wade Ford and Shottenkirk Dodge will provide seven Ford Explorers and three Dodge Chargers for the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office. The vehicles will be fully equipped with radios, data terminals and other law enforcement gear for a total cost of $416,879.

King Ford will supply a 2017 Ford F-350 truck to haul the Mobile Adoption Trailer of the county Animal Shelter. To pay for the truck, the county will use $36,451 of a lien payment from the Wise puppy mill case, in which hundreds of dogs were seized from a Cumming couple.

Delivery Concepts East will outfit and provide two Meals-on-Wheels food trucks for the Senior Center for $105,764, while Rush Truck Centers will supply two new Tandem Dump Trucks for the Roads & Bridges Department at a total cost of $267,402.
