Cherokee County School District officials said the district’s graduation rate jumped four percentage points for the class of 2015 to 86 percent. State Department of Education data also showed Cherokee’s four-year rate is the third highest in metro Atlanta and exceeds the statewide average of 79 percent.

Officials said graduation percentages at each of district’s high schools also showed improvement, with River River Ridge High School leading the way at 92 percent.

Superintendent Frank Petruzielo hailed the numbers and said that, subject to state officials agreeing to provide funding, a comprehensive summer school program for all students would further improve graduation rates.
