Cherokee County school ‘choice’ period begins Feb. 1

The window opens Saturday, Feb. 1, for Cherokee County families seeking school choice reassignments, including applications for the STEM and Fine Arts Academies, county school officials announced.

For the 2020-21 school year, 14 elementary schools are “open,” with available classroom space for students from outside their respective attendance zones. They are Arnold Mill, Avery, Ball Ground STEM, Bascomb, Boston, Clayton, Hasty Fine Arts, Hickory Flat, Holly Springs STEM, Indian Knoll, Knox STEM, Mountain Road, Oak Grove Fine Arts and Sixes.

Freedom Middle School and Sequoyah High School also are "open." Applications are due by March 1. For information and application forms: https://bit.ly/36yJhKk
