The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has awarded a $2.43 million construction services contract for the reconstruction of Earney Road.
A1 Contracting LLC submitted the lowest-cost, highest-scoring bid of seven received for the job. It is tasked with reconstructing about 0.75 miles of Earney from Old Country Place to Hill Top Road. The street is at the eastern end of the county, just inside the Cherokee County line from Milton.
The contractor will lower hills, straighten curves and install storm drainage, curbs, gutters and paving, staff said in a report to commissioners. The work is expected to be finished in 12 months.
