Cherokee County has a new deputy county manager: Geoff Morton, who will also continue his duties as director of community development.
Morton will be a key adviser to County Manager Jerry Cooper and assist in the execution of the strategic plan, according to a county announcement.
He also will guide the execution of department and divisional business plans and programs; continue to oversee county departments including engineering, public works, building inspections and planning and zoning; and be the county’s liaison to cities and regional and state agencies.
“Geoff has been integral in the success of Cherokee County over the years,” Cooper said. Since coming to the county in 2001 from Woodstock, where he had been city engineer and public works director, “Geoff has earned trust and respect across the county, within the county government, and with city and county leaders across the state of Georgia.”
Morton is a 1986 graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., and is a registered professional engineer. Information: https://bit.ly/2YG6sR6
