Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office detectives have wound up a two-and-a-half month investigation into vehicle thefts with the arrest of a Woodstock man. Officials said Johnny Lee Cowart, 26, has been charged with 33 counts of entering an auto, 25 counts of credit card theft and 10 counts of credit card fraud as well as burglary and other offenses.

Investigators say Cowart entered vehicles belonging to at least 29 people in neighborhoods along Woodstock’s Arnold Mill Road earlier this year, stealing firearms, purses, credit cards, tools and wallets. He’s also accused of using stolen credit cards at local businesses and online.

Detectives who executed a search warrant at Cowart’s home said they located some of the stolen property, including a firearm.
