Cherokee County has leased a single-family home to a person who will be responsible for providing general care, maintenance and security to a county-maintained boat launch on the nearby Etowah River.

The Board of Commissioners approved the lease with Renae D. Eidson for a house at 2015 Ball Ground Road, next to the Etowah bridge and site of the boat launch. The lease begins Dec. 4 and continues to Dec. 31, 2020, at which time it becomes a month-to-month agreement, according to a staff report to commissioners.

Cherokee County owns the house. Earlier this year, the county agreed to operate and maintain a boat launch on the Etowah to be constructed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. The state plans to build a gravel road from the highway to a parking lot and a concrete ramp suitable for launching small watercraft, like canoes and kayaks.
