The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners has awarded a $522,993 construction contract for a sidewalk on Canton Road, and a $19,000 engineering design contract for sidewalks along Bells Ferry and Ridge roads.
Ohmshiv Construction LLC submitted the lowest of six bids to build 0.6 miles of sidewalk on the west side of Canton Road from the Cobb County line to Stockwood Drive, according to a staff report. Commissioners also approved an agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation to be reimbursed 80 percent of construction costs, $418,394, using federal funds.
Separately, commissioners approved a contract with Calco Engineering LLC to design sidewalks to plug two gaps: About 600 feet on the west side of Bells Ferry between Sixes Road and Staddlebridge Avenue; and roughly 540 feet on the west side of Ridge between Pineview Drive and the Bridgemill Heights subdivision.
Besides sidewalks, the contract calls on Calco to design curbs and gutters and drainage. Calco submitted the lowest of four bids for the job, staff said.
