A Cherokee County water agency has issued a call for volunteers for three Saturdays in October to help clean Allatoona Lake and the Little River and Etowah River.

“Millions of tons of trash are left along our nation’s rivers and streams every year,” according to the Cherokee County Water & Sewerage Authority. “All this trash takes away from the beauty and safety of our waterways. That’s why CCWSA’s Annual River Cleanup is so important.”

It’s suggested that participants bring old shoes and clothes they don’t mind getting wet or dirty. Heavy work gloves are optional.

The Great Lake Allatoona Cleanup is 8:30 a.m. to noon, Oct. 5. Work locations in Cherokee County include Blanket's Creek, Little River Marina, Cherokee Outdoor YMCA, Explorer Scout Camp, and Victoria Harbor. Information: https://bit.ly/2mhR9i7

The Little River Cleanup is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Oct. 12, at Olde Rope Mill Park, Woodstock; and the Etowah River Cleanup, the same hours Oct. 26 at the Upper Etowah River Alliance office, 180 McClure St., Canton. Information: https://bit.ly/2p93977
