The Cherokee County Health Department and Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services have been awarded Car Seat Mini-Grants by the Georgia Department of Public Health so that they can offer child car seats to financially eligible families.
The grant provides up to six convertible car seats and four high-back booster seats to have in stock each month, according to Jennifer King, spokeswoman for North Georgia Health District 1-2. As seats are given out, more will be provided to maintain the monthly inventory.
The Cherokee Health Department will serve every eligible family, with an emphasis on the Hispanic community, King said. The Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens and Whitfield County Health Departments and their local partners also will receive mini-grants. Information: http://bit.ly/2CI8h75
