Southeastern Engineering Inc. has been awarded a $365,000 contract to draw up improvements for the intersection of Trickum Road at Ga. 92.

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners approved the professional services agreement for the project. The crossroads of the two-lane Trickum and four-lane Ga. 92 “experiences significant delays” during peak hours and on weekends, and “there is a history of accidents at this crowded intersection,” staff said in report to commissioners.

The county has secured commitments from the Atlanta Regional Commission and Georgia Department of Transportation to fund parts the project, staff said.

“This project is funded with county roadway SPLOST and federal funding through GDOT,” staff said. Federal funding includes $1 million for right-of-way acquisitions and $2.2 million toward construction costs.
