A 26-year-old Canton man faces a slew of charges in a Feb. 11 head-on crash in Cherokee County that sent five people to the hospital.

The Georgia State Patrol said Joshua Cameron Chernak was driving a white Ford Mustang that crossed the center line and smashed into an Infiniti on East Cherokee Drive. He faces several traffic charges including reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and driving under the influence plus manufacture, distribution or sale of controlled substance or marijuana allegations. Mustang passenger Renee Alexandria Freeman, 21, of Jasper, was hit with similar drug charges.

Two back seat occupants of the Mustang were ejected in the crash and one person in the front seat was trapped and had to be extricated. In all the patrol said five people, including the Infiniti driver, were moderately to severely hurt.
