Chamblee announced the unveiling of the city’s second commissioned mural at a ceremonty at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Peachtree Road . The Peachtree Road mural is a collaboration between the city of Chamblee, the Chamblee Downtown Development Authority, MARTA and IDEA Chamblee, a community nonprofit arts center. The two murals were created by artist Michael Jones and are part of the city’s visual and cultural beautification efforts for its downtown campus and surrounding area.
Beginning at 1 p.m., Chamblee Mayor R. Eric Clarkson will cut the ribbon, speak about the mural as well as the importance of art in public spaces, folowed by a reception and special exhibit of Michael Jones’ work at I.D.E.A. Chamblee, .
Michael Jones was born in Dallas, Texas, where he attended the famed Booker T. Washington High School for Performing and Visual Arts. Jones relocated to Atlanta in 1994, where he received his Bachelors degree from Atlanta College of Art in 1998.
