Chamblee City Council recently agreed to create the new position of assistant police chief, promoting a captain with the force who will now be its second in command.

Donny Williams will mostly continue with his current duties of overseeing the department’s patrol units, K-9 unit and others. He also will share personnel responsibility with Chief Marc Johnson.

Williams has been with Chamblee for 21 years. Prior to that, he worked for two years with the Atlanta Police Department.
