When you go bowling, it’s usually all about the games and the food. But in Cherokee county, it may also be about the job openings.
According to an analysis by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution of the 2016 County Business Patterns data from the U.S. Census Bureau released on last week, bowling centers offer the hottest jobs in Cherokee.
The analysis was limited to include jobs that hired at least 15 employees. Some jobs — which did not include the number of employees are withheld by the Census for privacy or because of technical issues — were not included on the list.

While bowling centers taking the top spot for hot jobs in the county may come as a surprise to some, Scott Harris, the corporate marketing director for the Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment Center in Woodstock, does not find it much of a shock.
“We have hired a lot more people, particularly younger adults,” said Harris. “They just want somewhere fun to work. They don’t want to go to some boring office job.”
Between 2015 and 2016, bowling centers saw a 256.8 percent increase in employment. Harris believes this will continue to be a trend as bowling centers like Stars and Strikes continue investing in their employees through recruitment and retention.
