Trick-or-treating is just for beginners.

Gwinnett’s cities have a plastic pumpkin full of options for you to celebrate the spookiest day of the year.

Cities across the county are celebrating with parades, costume contests and family activities. Here’s what’s going on in your neighborhood:

Norcross

The city of Norcross is throwing its first ever "Light Up Norcross" lantern and costume parade on Oct. 27. Kids and adults are welcome at the festivities, which start at 4 p.m. in Thrasher Park. You can create your own lantern by getting a kit at the Norcross Welcome Center, located at 189 Lawrenceville Street. Lantern kits are $15 each in advance or $20 the day of parade, and only cash and checks are accepted. The parade starts at dusk, and will be led by a marching band. All are welcome to wear their best costumes.

Lawrenceville

Get some free fun for kids and families at Spooktacular on the Square on Oct. 26. From 6 to 8 p.m., there will be trick-or-treating at businesses on the Lawrenceville Square. A DJ will spin in the gazebo at the Lawrenceville Historic Courthouse, and there will be interactive kids' games. Nearby restaurants will have "spooktacular drink specials" for adults.

Duluth

Another opportunity to start trick-or-treating a few days early is Duluth's Howl on the Green. Food trucks will line the Duluth Town Green, and area businesses will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Kids can also partake in costume contests and crafts from 6 to 9 p.m. Live entertainment will be ongoing all night, starting at 6 p.m. and turning spooky at 9 p.m., with performers including fire dancers and an aerialist.

Suwanee

The city of Suwanee is giving kids a chance to "test drive" their Halloween costumes on Oct. 28. During "Trek or Treat," children will get some candy and have the opportunity to play fall festival-style games, enter contests and jump on inflatables. There will be music for all to enjoy. Costumes aren't required, but it's a good excuse to get another use out of that outfit.
