A mistake by the Horseshoe Casino in downtown Cincinnati has left two lucky men with $1 million prizes.
The casino is running a summer promotion called the $3 Million Summer Giveaway. On Saturday night, the casino announced the second winner of one of the $1 million prizes as Cincinnati resident Kevin Lewis. Lewis collected his winnings and spoke to the media that night, according to a release from the casino.
But as casino officials concluded a final verification check before awarding Lewis his winnings, the casino realized they had made “a blunder,” officials said in a statement. A second Cincinnati resident with the same name was actually the real winner of the drawing.
“This was our blunder,” said Horseshoe Cincinnati Senior Vice President Kevin Kline. “So consistent with our commitment to do the right thing for our guests, Horseshoe awarded a $1 million dollar prize to each of the men.”
Both Lewis men received the drawing prize.
A fourth and final drawing winner will be announced over Labor Day weekend, according to the release.
For today, it’s a great day to be Kevin Lewis from Cincinnati.
