Does Jimmy Carter know something we don’t know?

While congressional leaders continue to bicker over spending -- and some lawmakers are even predicting an 11th-hour budget agreement -- the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum didn't wait for the clock to strike midnight on a federal government shutdown. By Friday afternooon, hours ahead of the 12 a.m. deadline for new budget deal, the former president's library said it would be closed this weekend "due to a Federal government shutdown.”

That's the top item on the web site for the library and museum along with advice to check www.archives.gov for updates.

That’s also the museum’s message for those calling the facility at 404-865-7100.
