A five-year-old Carrollton boy who police said was abducted by his non-custodial father overnight was found safe Thursday morning and the father was taken into custody.

Carrollton police posted a Levi’s Call alert Thursday morning for five-year-old Lealand Hill.

The boy’s paternal grandmother has custody of the child, and Lealand was abducted overnight from her home by his father, Christopher Steven Fields, Carrollton police Capt. Chris Dobbs said.

Dobbs told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Fields was visiting the child at the grandmother’s home on Cottage Court in Carrollton on Wednesday night.

“During the night, sometime, the child was taken by the father,” Dobbs said. “He also stole the grandmother’s car.”

Police placed a lookout for the stolen Chrysler 200, and, about 9:30 a.m., a Carroll County sheriff’s deputy pulled the vehicle over at Northside Drive and Ga. 113, just outside the Carrollton city limits.

The child was found safe, and Fields was taken into custody without incident, Dobbs said.
