A motorist was injured Thursday afternoon when he flipped the car he was driving while trying to flee Kennesaw police.

The chase began around 2 p.m. on Old U.S. 41 north of Barrett Parkway when an officer tried to stop the Chevrolet Impala for a tag violation, Kennesaw police spokesman Scott Luther told the AJC.

The suspect fled across Barrett Parkway on Old U.S. 41, and when he tried to make a right turn onto Kennesaw Avenue at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield, he sideswiped two other cars before overturning, Luther said.

He said the suspect, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a "bump on the head."  The drivers whose cars were sideswiped were shaken up, but not injured, Luther  said.
