The Canton City Council has agreed to reimburse Cherokee County for repaving a portion of Ridge Road inside the city’s boundaries.

The council approved an intergovernmental agreement in which it will reimburse the county $44,976 for paving about 0.1 of a mile of Ridge from Marietta Highway to Henry Clay Street.

Staff has looked at the county’s numbers and determined the cost to the city is fair, City Manager Billy Peppers told the council. The work is part of a larger county project to resurface Ridge from Marietta Highway to Bells Ferry Road in the unincorporated area south of Canton.

When the county’s paving contractor is finished, the city will have 48 hours to inspect the work and alert the county to any deficiencies, Peppers said.
