The Canton City Council has given conditional approval to make possible 26 new townhomes on 2.93 acres on Reinhardt College Parkway in the Riverstone development.
Sunspring Lane Investors LLC had requested a master plan amendment and conditional use permit approval for the project in Pod E of Riverstone, with a street address of 648 Elmwood St.
The council’s vote came with the requirement for a 25-foot landscape buffer between the townhomes and an abutting single-family neighborhood. The Planning Commission had recommended a 50-foot buffer, but the developer objected, saying that could make the project untenable. Canton’s Unified Development Code requires a 25-foot buffer in this situation, staff said.
Documents filed with the developer’s request describe two types of townhomes –rear-loaded residences facing Reinhardt, and front-loaded dwellings elsewhere – each with 1,470 square feet, a two-car garage, and no more than three stories.
