The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Sept. 3 regular meeting to approve a contract for on-call consulting in the areas of planning and zoning, transportation planning, and urban redevelopment services.
The cost to the county will be $1,965 per planning case. Officials said the county is down a few staff members right now and this move is not meant to be an everyday occurrence, but only to supplement existing staff in high-volume and specialty situations.
The action is cost-neutral, as the money will come from salary savings in the Planning & Zoning Department, which currently has three openings after recent moves by former employees to seek opportunities elsewhere.
