An 18-year-old Roswell burger restaurant cashier who allegedly used phony Groupon discounts and other means to steal faces a theft by taking charge in a scheme that cost his employer at least $1,200, Channel 2 Action News reports.

Junior Cornelius Timoteus on Tuesday admitted to investigators that he had been charging customers the full price of their meals but discounting the sales on his cash register and then pocketing the difference, according to a Roswell police report.

“Any discount codes he could find he, was putting them in the register and taking the extra money,” Roswell police Officer Lisa Holland told Channel 2.

The owners of The Counter: Custom Built Burgers on Mansell Road in Roswell were alerted in August to something wrong with their store’s finances and started investigating, police said.

They discovered that Timoteus, of Sandy Springs, had been using a special code that another, unknown employee had given him, using a manager’s card or charging a discounted Groupon price on sales and making false entries to his register, police said.

The owners figured the scheme has cost them at least $1,219, police said. They were going through register receipts dating back to April looking for additional suspicious charges.

Timoteus was arrested and was booked into Fulton County Jail on Wednesday.
