Budget picture improves for Cobb schools

Budget officials for Cobb schools expect to present a balanced budget to the school board in June, despite previous estimates showing the district was facing a $40-50 million shortfall.
The 2011-12 budget will still likely include furlough days and delayed salary increases, but additional cuts are not expected.

State and local revenues are slightly higher than expected, which has brought more money into the district, said Mike Addison, chief financial officer.
