Voters in Stockbridge will be able to decide in November whether alcohol sales on Sunday are to be extended.

The City Council voted at its July 8 regular meeting to approve a referendum that will put a question on the ballot regarding on-premise consumption of alcohol between 11 a.m. and midnight every Sunday. The so-called “brunch bill” was made possible by recent action in the Georgia General Assembly allowing municipalities to permit and regulate the sale and consumption of alcohol between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. providing it is approved by referendum.

The vote to approve was 4-0 with Mayor Pro Tem John Blount absent from council meeting.
