Brown Middle School in southwest Atlanta was put on lockdown shortly before classes were dismissed Monday because two burglary suspects were in the area, a school district spokesman said.

Dismissal from the school was delayed by about a half hour until Atlanta police arrested the suspects, said Atlanta Public Schools spokesman Stephen Alford.

Brown Middle School’s students weren’t able to leave school for the day until the lockdown was lifted, Alford said.
