Brookhaven City Council will vote tomorrow on a master plan for a trail that would connect land in DeKalb to the Atlanta Beltline.
The proposed Peachtree Creek Greenway is a 12-mile greenway, or linear park, along Peachtree Creek from the Atlanta Beltline to Doraville. Brookhaven's portion would be 2.7 miles and is projected to cost $35 million in federal, state and private funding, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Earlier this year, the council approved a contract for Heath & Lineback Engineers to prepare a North Fork Peachtree Creek Greenway Masterplan at a cost of $153,800.96. Officials said it would "develop a framework for constructing an integrated system of multi-use and natural trails along the North Fork Peachtree Creek."
Ann Marie Quill, City of Brookhaven communications manager, confirmed in an email that the plan will be on the Aug. 23 agenda.
If approved, the development would be District 4's first park.
