The new Branded Barrel package store on 735 Pleasant Hill Road will not be able to open within three months of receiving a city alcohol license, as is stipulated in Lilburn’s city ordinance. The owners have been trying to obtain a certificate of occupancy and state approval, but have been subject to a temporary restraining order by an adjacent property owner that has prevented them from completing construction and opening for business.

According to the complaint, placing a liquor store there violated a restrictive covenant for the entire former Lowe’s property.

As a result of the litigation, the opening of the package store has been postponed. Due to the unusual nature of the delay, the Lilburn city council recently approved a license extension to avoid automatic forfeiture of the license.
