Hudie Langston, administrator of Christian City Assisted Living Center, was named 2017 Executive Director of the Year by the American College of Health Care Administrators during the Georgia Health Care Association and Georgia Center for Assisted Living's summer convention for his passion for providing quality residential care.

Joseph Young of Etowah High School, Claire and Irene Chen and Simon Yang of River Ridge High School and Preston Alsup of Woodstock were named 2018 National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists.

Lizzie Frederick, Jessica Keen, Jaren Linowes, Hayes Miller, Ricardo Ruiz, Julia Sibert, Alisa Steele, Spencer Vise, and Charles Woodman of Riverwood International Charter School were inducted to the 2017-18 Youth Leadership Sandy Springs class.

Tyler Butler, Ben Nguyen and Heidy Sosa of Gwinnett Technical College earned gold medals at National SkillsUSA, Post Secondary State Leadership and Skills Conference in Kentucky.

Shermar Frazier and Aniah Moore of New Manchester High School and Rodrick Members and Yosy Herrera of Douglas County High School competed in Gordon Food Service's Iron Chef Culinary Battle. Frazier won the competition held at The Vine.

Elizabeth Norman of Marietta won the 2017 Bedford Cup Singles Championship.

Margaret Harvey and Samuel Schaffer of Atlanta both received a Fulbright award for 2017-2018.

Fran Overdyke of Gwinnett County was named School Nurse of the Year by the Georgia Association of School Nurses.

Nancy Beane, associate director of college counseling at Westminster College received the 2017 Marty Elkins Award for Excellence in College Counseling by the Association of College Counselors in Independent Schools.
