Piedmont Academy Seniors, Isabel McLaurin and Lillie King, qualified for and competed in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association's Zone 4 Region 1 Finals in March at the Centennial Olympic Horse Park in Conyers.

Kamari Moreland of Spring Hill Elementary and Kaydence Diner of Peeples Elementary won the regional competition in the fourth and fifth grade divisions, respectively in the Griffin RESA Regional Young Georgia Authors Writing Competition. Their writing will be reviewed by a judging panel of English Language Arts professionals in consideration for a state award.

Athena Nassar, a 17-year-old student from Peachtree City, is one of 16 students selected to receive top honors in the 2019 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards: the Gold Medal Portfolio, which includes a $10,000 scholarship for her writing portfolio. In her nationally recognized portfolio "Metamorphosis," Athena explores family dynamics and relationships through a mixture of poems, short stories, and flash fiction.

Georgia's top two youth volunteers of 2019, Anish Bikmal, 18, of Cumming and Seth De La Pena, 13, of Alpharetta, were honored in the nation's capital earlier this month for their outstanding volunteer service during the 24th annual presentation of The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. Anish and Seth – along with 100 other top youth volunteers from across the country – received a $1,000 award and personal congratulations from award-winning actress Viola Davis at an award ceremony and gala dinner reception held at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History.
