Gabriella Bartlett a 6th grade Summerour Middle School student represented her school and Georgia at the National History Day Competition at the University of Maryland. She qualified for the competition after her research paper, "The Devil Made Me Do It: The Salem Witch Trials," won 2nd place in the Junior Division, Research Paper category at the State National History Day competition.

Rhonda Archer, a Mountain View High School teacher, is a recipient of the Palmes Académiques (Order of Academic Palms) Chevalier (Silver Cross) by the Republic of France. This national order of France recognizes distinguished academics and contributors in the fields of education and culture.

Arwen Burgess and Thu Nguyen of Parkview High School were winners in Kennesaw State University's German Poetry Contest. The contest is sponsored by the German Embassy in Washington, D.C., and The Halle Foundation and recognizes learners of German in public and private schools across the state of Georgia. Students write poetry in German focusing on global themes, and awards are presented to students by level in middle school, high school, and university.​
