Mesha Goddu and Kelly Olson of Kelly Mill Elementary School and their teacher, Shannon Knight, were honored as winners in the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association Foundation Fall 2016 InvestWrite essay competition at the Georgia Freight Depot by Melanie Mortimer, president of the SIFMA Foundation for Investor Education.

Jayden Asher of Creekland Middle School was chosen for the Duke University Talent Identification Program for his exceptional scores in standardized tests.

Stephen Cleary of McDonough was named a cadet leader for The Citadel Class of 2018.

Valerie Washington of Marietta won the “Outstanding Honors Senior” award from Kennesaw State University.

Wesley Queen of Acworth, Ruth Richir of Cartersville, Michelle Edward, John Goodwin and Reuben Hilliard of Kennesaw, Fernando Castellani and David Richmond of Marietta, Johnathon Ard of Powder Springs and Zachery Mielko and Margaret Slomkowski of Woodstock were recipients of the Outstanding Graduating Student award from Kennesaw State University’s College of Science and Mathematics.

Megan Litumbe of Grayson and an outfielder for the Georgia State University softball team was named Sun Belt co-Player of the Week May 2.

Cleo Hardt of Decatur was a wardrobe assistant for the Bard College at Simon’s Rock Theatre Program production of Almost, Maine by John Cariani.

Regan Humphrey of Stone Mountain was named a winner of Bard College at Simon’s Rock’s 2017 Leslie Sander Writing Contest.
