A 14-year-old boy who was hit by a tractor trailer while helping his stepfather change a tire on the side of I-75 in Bartow County on Friday night has died, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The family of Chris Abernathy, of Acworth, took him off life support Monday, Channel 2 said.
A truck driven by Albert Riha, 32, of Ringgold was headed north at about 8 p.m. Friday when it left its lane and hit Abernathy on the shoulder of road at mile marker 281.
He was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in critical condition and later died.
Charges are pending.
