Brants and Cole stopped at a red light near the intersection of Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Little Mill Road in Sugar Hill on May 7. Both got out of their cars and confronted each other, and the altercation escalated to a physical fight, Gwinnett County police said.

During that fight, Brants stabbed Cole multiple times, police said. Brants suffered injuries to his head in the fight with Cole.

In an email to the AJC, Brants said he was not the attacker in the altercation.

Brants turned himself in to police Monday. Police initially did not file charges, but then charged Brants with aggravated assault around 5 p.m. Brants is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center on $11,200 bond.

Cole is still recovering from his injuries at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. He will be booked into jail when he is released from the hospital.
