The body of the woman found dead in her Buford home, on the 1000 block of Anthony Drive, Tuesday afternoon has been identified as 53-year-old Karen Higgins.
Police said a family member of the victim became concerned when several days passed before hearing from Higgins. The family member then went to Higgins’ house and found her dead inside.
Higgins’ husband, who is disabled, was inside the home and was later taken to a hospital because of a medical condition.
Gwinnett County police investigators say Higgins was a victim of a homicide.
The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy as the cause of death is still under investigation.
