Atlanta police are investigating the death of a person whose badly-decomposed body was found Tuesday morning in a vacant house in southeast Atlanta.
The body, believed to be that of a woman, was found about 6:30 a.m., face-down in the bedroom of a house in the 1400 block of Park Avenue, a couple of blocks west of Boulevard, according to Atlanta police Det. Kevin Otts.
A homeless man stayed in the house Monday night, and “when he woke up this morning, he saw the body and then he called police,” Otts told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“He had a little bit too much to drink last night, went inside, passed out in the back of the house, got up in the morning, went into the bedroom and then he called us immediately,” Otts said.
He said detectives could not immediately determine a cause of death or tell whether foul play was involved due to the severe state of decomposition.
