Police are investigating after the body of a young man was found early Sunday morning at a DeKalb County elementary school.
The man has been identified as 20-year-old Curtis Pinckney, Channel 2 Action News reported.
He was found shot to death around 2 a.m. at Hambrick Elementary School.
“We are looking at a homicide obviously, the potential, and also if the injury could have been possibly self-inflicted,” Capt. Myron Logan with DeKalb police told Channel 2 on Monday.
The DeKalb County school system would not comment on the case Sunday, other than to say the person found dead was not affiliated with the school off Hambrick Road near Stone Mountain.
“The person is not connected to the school,” DeKalb County schools spokesman Quinn Hudson said.
Hudson referred questions to the DeKalb police, who are investigating the death. The GBI was also on the scene Sunday providing investigative support, but referred questions to local authorities.
