Henry County will accept more than $170,000 in federal grant funding for three positions in the District Attorney’s office through the state’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

An allocation of $61,277 was approved for each of two positions: an early notification advocate and a contract counselor. Each one requires a $15,319 match which will be fulfilled through in-kind volunteer hours. Also approved was a $48,419 allocation for a victim compensation advocate with a $12,105 match.

Acceptance of these grants was approved March 5 by the Henry County Board of Commissioners, who also approved the submission of a grant application for the county’s DUI/Drug Court for the 2020 fiscal year. The court received $50,124 for 2019 and the new available amount will be determined during the current legislative session.
