Atlanta, Georgia Tech and a company called viaCycle have launched what they describe as the first major bike sharing program in the Southeast. The six-month pilot program will be implemented in four locations on the Tech campus with 35 bicycles. The program will provide flexible transit throughout Tech's campus and Midtown, said Dr. G.P. "Bud" Peterson, president of Georgia Tech. City leaders said the program would help augment the Atlanta BeltLine and encourage more Atlantans to get out of their cars and use transit.
