By this point in his life, Jedidiah Moody figured the paperwork he’d be signing might be for his commitment to a Division I school on a basketball scholarship.
Instead, Moody signed his sentencing paperwork on Thursday in Cobb County court for robbing a 91-year-old grandmother.
The 18-year-old will spend five years in prison and the next 15 on probation, according to that sentencing paperwork.

In July, Moody and another teen forced their way into the grandmother’s Austell home in the 3800 block of William Paul Drive and took her Honda Accord.
The North Springs High School student wrote on his NCSA recruiting profile that he wanted to attend UCLA and study business in order to be a sports agent — "if my basketball career with the NBA falls through."
He wrote that he had been in advanced classes since third grade.

Channel 2 Action News was in the courtroom during the sentencing.
"My intention would never be to hurt anyone or cause harm," Moody said, according to Channel 2. "I did make a really bad decision, a bad choice and I'm extremely sorry. I want to get my life back in order rather than go to prison, throwing my life away."
According to Channel 2, the judge said she hoped Moody would have the chance to graduate from college and play basketball when he's released from prison.
