The body found in a culvert in several inches of water is that of a missing Gwinnett County man, police said late Tuesday.

Trevor Greer, 67, disappeared from his Etna Drive home near Snellville last Thursday.

A Mattie’s Call was issued late Saturday and Gwinnett police began a ground and air search for Greer. Greer’s diabetes and “new developments surrounding … his medical history” led authorities to upgrade the case to a Mattie’s Call, Cpl. Deon Washington said Sunday.

On Monday at about 3 p.m. a resident on Mountbery Drive called 911 and said that he had found a man’s body face down in several inches of water in a culvert behind his property, according to Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera. Mountbery Drive is in the same neighborhood as Etna Drive and Quinbery Drive.

An autopsy positively identified the man as Greer based on his fingerprints, police said. No signs of foul play were found, and investigators believe Greer died as a result of the elements.
