Windshields will be safer in Austell with the Austell City Council’s approval Monday of $31,188.46 to buy three zero-turn lawn mowers from Barnes Hardware.
Funding will come from the 2015 special purpose local option sales tax.
The city also will buy mulching kits to affix to the side discharges of the present mowers because the city has had to replace some windshields due to flying debris, the city’s Public Works Department Director Randy Bowens said.
Those walk-behind mowers will be used by inmates, while the new lawn mowers will be used only by city employees.
