The Austell City Council voted 6-0 Monday to deannex nearly 8 acres to Cobb County.
This request came from Brent Green about property at 5471, 5481, 5491 and 5521 Austell Road.
Zoned R-15 (Single Family Residential) within Austell, the property will retain that zoning classification in unincorporated Cobb.
Green said he would like to seek county grants to develop the property into a park in honor of his late mother.
Next the Georgia General Assembly will have to approve this request, according to Jim Graham, director of the city’s Community Development and Parks Departments.
