Free plots are available in Austell’s I. T. and Lodemia Terrell Community Garden.

Married for 66 years, the Terrells were well known in Austell such as for their generosity in giving away fruits and vegetables from their garden. Both of them grew up in families of sharecroppers - each with four siblings, and both completed their education up to the eighth grade. In fact, the site of the city’s Community Garden is the same land the Terrells planted every year at 2836 Windy Lane.

Plot sizes are four feet by eight feet. Also, compost and water are available.

The Community Garden Agreement Form is at the city’s Threadmill Complex, 5000 Austell Powder-Springs Road, Suite 105, Austell.
