The Austell City Council approved a variety of expenditures on July 3, totaling $175,818:

  • nearly $66,413 for cul-de-sac construction on Locust Lane Street for use as a bus turnaround.
  • $36,760 for a reconditioned LIFEPAK 15 defibrillator/monitor with plans to buy two of them. Fire Chief Pat Maxwell said one new unit would cost about $72,000. However, one reconditioned unit comes with the same warranty as the new one. Maxwell said the current defibrillator is out of date with no parts or maintenance available.
  • $35,885 to Worsham Contracting for roof replacement at public works, including new gutters and downspouts. The current roof was built in 1972.
