Auburn officials have cancelled the city’s general election scheduled for Nov. 7. Candidates for city-council, Robert L. Vogel and Bill Ackworth qualified for office unopposed.

Auburn’s elected officials consist of a mayor and four at-large city council members elected to four-year terms.

The Auburn City Council is working in conjunction with Gwinnett and Barrow counties, Dacula, Winder, Statham and Town of Carl to create “The Great Rail Trail.” The bicycle trail will run along Highway 8/29 from the Highway 316 intersection for approximately 22 miles to Statham and will be enhanced in each jurisdiction with crape myrtles and other indigenous bushes and plants.
