Authorities are looking for two men who stole an ATM from a Barrow County convenience store, the sheriff’s office said Thursday.

The men backed a truck through the front glass doors of the closed Chevron on Ga. 53 at Ga. 316 around 5:30 a.m. Monday.

On Tuesday, the ATM was found in Jackson County, and it has been returned to Barrow authorities and is being processed for evidence, Lt. Matt Guthas with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office said in the news release. The men had forcefully entered the machine and removed an undisclosed amount of money.

ATMs are heavy and have security measures installed, he said, but the one that was stolen was not bolted to the ground for added security, as some are.

Two persons of interest have been identified by authorities, but their names are not being released at this time, Guthas said. They are being sought for interviews.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigations Division at 770-307-3080, ext. 3083.
