Don’t forget an umbrella if you’re headed outside Sunday, with a band of showers and occasional thunderstorms hitting metro Atlanta in the afternoon.
“We’ll be dodging passing showers and storms” throughout the rest of Sunday into Monday, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said.
High temperatures will peak at about 83 degrees, Nitz said, before dropping overnight to a low of 68. Showers will linger into Monday morning, before clearing out Monday afternoon.
Motorists who braved Sunday’s iffy forecast found good news in late afternoon traffic, as previous delays cleared up southbound on the Downtown Connector through Midtown. Traffic was free flowing as of 3 p.m.
State Department of Transportation officials had warned motorists all weekend to expect stop-and-go conditions due to roadwork from 10th Street to Edgewood Avenue. Fans headed headed to Sunday’s 1:30 p.m. game experienced that frustration, as did drivers on Saturday when lane closures caused delays that reached between 60 and 90 minutes.
Major construction on I-285 has also finished for the weekend, the department said.
