It’s been days since we’ve seen it — too many to count. But be prepared, Atlanta, because it’s returning.

The sun.

The clouds and dreary skies that have lingered for several days began clearing early Tuesday afternoon. And by later in the day, we may even need to grab some shades.

Wednesday should be even sunnier and warmer, according to Brad Nitz, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist. After starting out in the upper 40s, temperatures Wednesday should reach the low 70s, Nitz said.

If you’re longing to get outside, Wednesday has the week’s best forecast. Then comes a cold front.

Thursday morning could be another wet one, when the next weather front brings a 40 percent chance of showers, Nitz said.

The sun will make its appearance through the clouds Thursday afternoon and Friday. But by the time the weekend gets here, it will feel more like Fall in Atlanta.

Saturday morning could bring the first freeze of the season to parts of northeast Georgia, Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns said. Temperatures will be in the upper 30s Saturday morning in metro Atlanta before climbing to middle 50s.
